"And I will remember my covenant with you." Genesis 9:15, NLT

The people durning Noah's age lived a life ignorant to the Bible in which "everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil" (Genesis 6:5). (Yikes...) In Genesis 6:6, God says that this perverse nature "broke his heart!" The sins of the people in Noah's time grieved God so much not just because it was an act of disobedience, but because their sins drew them further and further away from Him. God sent the flood waters down to purify the world so we could be close with him once again.
Learn to trust and obey in God's omniscience like Noah. God told Noah to build a massive ark to stay afloat from water falling from the sky for 40 days straight (one of God's signature mind-blowing ideas). We don't have to understand how or why or what will happen; just trust God - even if it's with blind eyes.
God gave Noah a promise stating, "Never again will floodwaters kill all living creatures; never again will a food destroy the earth" (Genesis 9:11). Two verses later, God places a rainbow in the clouds (a visual reminder) as a sign of this covenant to remind Noah and all humanity of His promise. This third design also serves as a visual reminder of God's lasting covenant in the life of Noah that is still a promise to us today.
"Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on the earth at the time" despite being surrounded by a corrupted world; Noah's "close relationship with God" and loyalty to His heart resulted in God in turn showing His loyalty to Noah and his family (Genesis 6:9).
Reflect: What are some of God's promises you need to remind yourself of? What ways can you show God your loyalty to Him by staying pure in sinful surroundings?
“Genesis” is the Greek word for “beginning,” and it marks the beginning of the Holy Bible as its first book. Likewise, the term Genesis also marks the beginning of Discipled Designs as its first collection and first impression of what is to come from this small business. While there is a vast amount of action taking place in just these first 50 chapters of the Bible, I narrowed down this collection to 5 designs by selecting the characters and events which spoke the greatest to me through the eyes of a designer and a disciple of Christ.
The Book of Genesis - Holistic Interpretation: God is faithful, and His promises endure even through our recklessness and countless acts of sin. (In case you saw the word “holistic” and said “Whaa-?”, a holistic interpretation is simply the “take away message” or summary of the book of Genesis.)
